What Our
Patients Say

“Growing up I had uneven and acne prone skin. I went to see Gina at Northwestern Med Spa River North for professional help. She suggested a Hydrafacial and Microneedling to help balance and hydrate my skin. The best part is she doesn’t just give you a service, she educates you on how to care for your skin long term. I now have the best skin of my life thanks to Gina!!! Can’t wait to go back and visit Gina again!!!

Microneedling Treatment

Microneedling Treatment

The SkinPen® by BellusMedical is the only FDA-cleared microneedling device on the market. As a result, SkinPen® treatments have shorter treatment times, are less painful and have no side effects. SkinPen® treatments vary in depth depending upon skin condition for which the device is being used. Light treatments are a great way to treat mild acne scarring and improve fine lines and skin texture. Deeper needling treatments may be necessary to improve more significant acne scarring, keloid scarring or stretch marks.

Compared to traditional dermal needling devices, the SkinPen® minimizes epidermal damage which means less pain and bleeding. SkinPen® is very easy to maneuver which allows us to follow the contours of the face.

Can microneedling be performed on all skin types?

Microneedling is safe to use on all skin types and colors without risk of post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation. Microneedling can be performed on all parts of the body including neck, décolleté, arms, legs and abdomen.

Does this skin rejuvenation treatment require downtime?

Inflammation of the skin is temporary and reduces greatly within a few hours. The skin may remain slightly pink for up to 48 hours after treatment.

The number of treatments needed depends on individual cases, however, microneedling can be safely performed every 4-6 weeks. For best results, treatments are recommended monthly for at least 3 months to see optimal collagen production.

Prior to the treatment, numbing cream can be applied to minimize any discomfort that can be associated with the treatment.

Patients notice an immediate glow to their skin. Visible changes to the skin develop of several weeks and results can continue to improve up to 6 months after a single treatment.
