One of the most exciting developments in cosmetic medicine over the past decade has been the use of BOTOX® Cosmetic to improve the appearance of or even prevent fine line wrinkles.
BOTOX® Cosmetic is incredibly easy to use, affordable and effective. Our NSPS providers utilize BOTOX® to soften crow’s feet, forehead furrows, and frown lines (the dreaded “elevens”) for a softer, more youthful appearance. It is also used to help with pain associated with clenching and grinding and facial contouring.
What is BOTOX?
BOTOX® Cosmetic safely and effectively treats wrinkles around the eyes and forehead. The product relaxes the tiny muscles in the face responsible for wrinkles that come from facial movements such as frown lines, worry lines, crow’s feet, and frown lines. This helps smooth the appearance of these wrinkles and gives the skin a softer, more youthful look with results that typically last 3-6 months.
BOTOX Cosmetic Treatment
At our practice in Chicago, BOTOX® injection appointments typically take only a few minutes out of your day. Our providers use a tiny needle to inject BOTOX® into precisely targeted muscles. The providers have extensive experience in surgical and non-surgical rejuvenation of the face which allows them to safely and precisely visualize the muscles being treated.
A Beginners Guide to Botox
How Much BOTOX Will I Need?
The amount of product needed and the number of injections will depend on the area being treated and the strength of the muscles being targeted.
Is There Downtime After BOTOX Injections?
There is little to no recovery or downtime associated with BOTOX®. The small needle and our careful technique result in very little bruising or swelling. There is typically a small area of redness associated with each injection site which goes away quickly, particularly with the help of a cool compress. Most patients go back to work and their normal routine immediately, without anyone knowing that they’ve had BOTOX®.
I was in Chicago to see family and this place has good yelp reviews and was literally one block from my hotel so I went for my Botox touch up. Jessica explained everything and she has the lightest touch I have ever had! Loved the special attention and I will make her my stop even if I have to travel more than one block!
It typically takes 5-7 days for results to show and up to two weeks to see the full effect of your BOTOX® treatment. Once BOTOX® takes effect, you can expect to look smoother and more vibrant for 3 to 4 months.
Regularly scheduled BOTOX® treatments prevent the muscle from regaining its full strength and may prolong the results or reduce the amount of injection required to achieve the desired effect with subsequent treatments.
Dysport: An Alternative to BOTOX
Dysport® is an alternative to BOTOX® that is used to temporarily improve the look of your moderate to severe frown lines without changing the look of your whole face. The untreated facial muscles still work normally, allowing you to freely show facial expressions, such as smiling, in untreated areas. With just 1 injection into each of 5 points between and over the eyebrows, Dysport® blocks the signal from the nerve to the muscles, ultimately resulting in a reduction of muscle activity and temporarily preventing contraction of the muscles that cause frown lines.
My first time with getting botox at this office, i was referred by sheena . Jessica was beautiful and so nice ! The office is beautiful and I will definitely return. I can’t wait for my next treatment! Awesome”
How Long Does Dysport Last?
Dysport® provides long-lasting, natural-looking results for up to 4 months. Dysport® is a formulation that has been shown to deliver temporary improvements in moderate to severe frown lines, even with repeat treatments. So, the effect of repeat treatment with Dysport® may be comparable to your first use. You should wait at least 90 days between Dysport® treatments.
