So January has come and gone! This time of year our skin takes a beating with the harsh winter weather. Even though this year has been mild in comparison to other years I’m still seeing people’s skin very angry! During the cold winter months, our skin has a tendency to have more irritation and sensitivity. There are things that can be done to help alleviate this problem; exfoliation, hydration, and protecting the skin’s barrier is very important. The key to healthy skin is to remove the dry damaged skin so that your skin can absorb moisture better, making it look younger. One thing to keep in mind with exfoliation is to not overdo it! It can end up making your skin worse and more irritated than when you started. During the cold winter months, I would recommend exfoliating your skin once a week. The Revision Finishing Touch Scrub is a great gentle exfoliator that we carry in our office.
Another way to keep your skin healthy and exfoliated is by doing regular Hydrafacials or Chemical peels. These treatments can be customized by what is happening with your skin, it is very important to discuss concerns ahead of time with your aesthetician. I always check in with my client and ask a few key questions that can help us decide the best game plan to keep the skin looking nice and happy, especially around changing seasons.
There is one product that has really amazed me this winter as well, and that is the Epionce Medical Barrier Cream, I recommend this for any skin type. The Epionce Medical Barrier Cream is extremely hydrating and will help repair dry and scaly sensitive skin. It’s formulated with the highest amount of barrier repair technology. It can be used post procedure to repair the skin when the barrier is highly compromised, or just to be an added protectant of the skin!
These are ways to keep your skin looking amazing throughout the winter and into the spring! If you are interested in a free skin consultation to get information specific to your skin call us today!
