How Is Facial Fat Grafting Performed?
Facial fat transfer is a process involving two steps. First, our providers will remove stubborn fat from your flanks, hips, abdomen, or other parts of your body using liposuction. This will be done with twilight or local anesthesia for your safety and comfort. What to Expect After Facial Fat Grafting
After your fat transfer, your liposuction incisions will be closed before you're sent to a recovery area. Dr. Schierle or a member of His team will apply dressings and compression garments and watch you until you are able to be taken home by a family member or friend. Before your procedure, Dr. Schierle will let you know what will happen after the procedure and ways you can speed up your healing. Follow-up appointments will need to be made at Northwestern Specialists in Plastic Surgery so Dr. Schierle can monitor your recovery and progress. Your recovery will vary based on how much fat is taken and transferred, but you need to plan to take 1 – 2 weeks for your recovery. Right away, you might feel uncomfortable with swelling and bruising at the liposuction site(s) along with your face.
