How Is Nipple Reconstruction Performed?
We specialize in several approaches to nipple reconstruction surgery at our Chicago, IL office. These include local flap reconstruction (using skin from the breast to create a new nipple), skin grafting from a different part of the body, and nipple autografting (using some of the tissue from your other nipple to construct a new one). During your consultation, we'll discuss the merits of each method and which one is most suitable for you. After constructing the new nipple mound, we can tattoo the area to create the appearance of an areola and hide scarring.
For patients who are not eligible for surgery or simply don't want to go under the knife again, Northwestern Specialists in Plastic Surgery is pleased to offer 3D nipple and areola tattooing. This process is performed by our skilled tattoo artist and creates the appearance of a nipple projecting out from the breast. The results of 3D nipple tattooing are extremely realistic, and many of our patients are thrilled with their new look.

I had such a pleasant experience with Dr. Simon and the whole team! He’s very knowledgeable, kind, and meticulous. He educated me on why I should or shouldn’t do certain procedures (example - I don’t love my neck but it’s due to my tongue placement and there’s no surgical procedure that can be done. I did joke that we should just remove my tongue). He was realistic and answered all my questions. I also had to text him a question and he answered while on vacation and was incredibly responsive and reassuring.Everything looks great and I’m so happy I went with Dr. Simon. Highly recommend.
