How Are Facelifts and Neck Lifts Performed?
Facelifts and neck lifts can be performed alone, together, or in combination with many of the other aesthetic procedures we offer at Northwestern Specialists in Plastic Surgery. There are many possible approaches we could take, including the full facelift (which involves making incisions at the top and bottom of the head to tighten the skin), the mini-facelift (a less extensive procedure that targets sagging and wrinkles around the cheeks and under the eyes), and the deep plane facelift (a more advanced method designed to provide longer-lasting refreshment). During your consultation, we'll discuss the benefits of each approach and determine which is right for your concerns. Whichever technique we use, your surgery will be performed using general anesthesia. Your surgeon will make the incision(s), remove any excess fat and skin, and pull the remaining skin tight to achieve the look you want. Our team will ensure you are monitored until it is safe for you to return home with a companion and will provide detailed aftercare instructions and schedule follow-up visits to support proper healing. After a neck lift, mild swelling and bruising will subside in a few days, but it's essential to rest and avoid strenuous activities for several weeks, ensuring that clothing does not irritate the treated area.
