A female patient underwent a successful transaxillary breast augmentation procedure during 2023, by our surgical team in Chicago, IL. The transaxillary approach for breast augmentation is one of the surgical techniques used to insert breast implants. It involves making an incision in the natural crease of the armpit (axilla) and inserting the implant through this incision. Since the incision is not made on the breast, there's a reduced risk of certain complications like changes in nipple sensation or problems with breastfeeding. We choose the transaxillary approach based on the patient’s anatomy, cosmetic goals, and concerns about scarring. This technique is offered in practices across the country. Our practice has a unique expertise using this approach safely and effectively.
