MicroPUE

A MORE NATURAL, FASTER HEALING FUE.

WHAT IS MICRO?

WHAT IS MICRO?

Minimally Invasive Collection by Reticular Oscillation. Micro is a better method of collecting hairs with vibration (reticular oscillation), instead of cutting. By eliminating cutting, the critically important oil gland is not stripped from the hair during collection. Instead, vibrations cause the body to naturally deliver hair with the oil gland in one piece, resulting in more naturally appearing hairs.

WHAT IS PUE?

WHAT IS PUE?

Pilosebaceous Unit Extraction. FUE stands for follicular unit extraction, where the goal is to extract the hair follicle. However, hairs need more than a follicle to be healthy. Hairs need the entire pilosebaceous unit, which includes the follicle (pilo-) and oil gland (-sebaceous). Micro makes this possible.

More natural results

With MicroPUETM,hairs are smooth, straight and shiny, unlike Standard FUE hairs, where the common complaint is that hairs can be dull and curled.

Damaged Oil Glands From Standard FUE

MicroPUETMuses vibration to collect hairs so oil glands are rarely cut off like Standard FUE. MicroPUETMhairs look more natural because oil glands keep hairs moisturized and healthy.

Fewer procedures

Avoid a second procedure. While most clinics are limited to 2,500 grafts in a single session, MicroPUETMallows us to SAFELY perform 3,000-4,500 grafts in one session because MicroPUETMis less invasive than Standard FUE.

Faster healing

MicroPUETMis 2-5x less invasive than FUE meaning you’ll be back to work the next day and fully healed in 7-10 days.

The Science Behind MicroPUETM

The Science of Healthier Hairs

In Standard FUE, a blade cuts a cylinder out of your scalp without any regard for what it cuts through. Often, critical structures like the oil gland are severed and left behind. However, the unnecessary tissue makes grafts bulky.

MicroPUETMuses vibration to separate hairs from the scalp in their natural anatomical units. This includes oil glands. Grafts are the ideal size with everything you need and nothing you don’t.

The Science of Natural Hairlines

Standard FUE hairs have extra tissue that acts like a buoy in water. After implantation, hairs bob in all directions. This means we have limited control over results.

In MicroPUETM, the hairs fit perfectly into the scalp. This gives us full control of their direction, which is key to building a natural hairline.

The science of faster healing

In FUE, hairs are punched out using a circular blade. To ensure hairs are collected without being cut, big punches are used. Unfortunately, this means longer healing.

In MicroPUETM, vibration allows the body to separate the hair naturally. This means no removal of unnecessary tissue and the abilty to collect twice the number of grafts with 1/5th the injury.

How much does hair replacement cost?

Most commonly, hair clinic charge by the graft. In Chicago, these prices range from $4.50/graft to $24/graft. In our office, a No-Touch FUE is $5/graft, a MicroFUE is $12/graft and Discrete FUE is $24/graft. To keep the price of the No-touch FUE low, we constantly upgrade to the newest technologies to imporve our efficiency, while still delivering a better result than we can achieve with a basic FUE. The difficulty in quoting a price stem from predicting the graft count. There are many variable that influence this including coverage area, desired density, hair thickness, head size and even the color of your hair. The front hair is particularly important to get perfect and this requires 2-3x more grafts than another area. That is because we only want to use micrografts (different than MicroFUE) in the front hairline. Micrografts are signle hair grafts that look for natural then grafts with 2, 3 or 4 hairs.

Although grafts grow at varying rates in patients, patients will see growth within the year. However, many patients will start seeing new hairs startng at 6 months.

All hair deteriorates in quality with time and as you age. In most cases this does not become cosmetically evident until much later in life but on occasion it may happen earlier. So even if everything is done correctly, it is possible that say 10, 20 or 30 years later, the transplant may not quite be the same quality it once wasYour scalp needs to be examined throughout to see if the same is happening to your donor area where the original hair transplant came from.

Unless you are getting a Discrete FUE or long hair FUE, your doctors will need to buzz but the back and sides of your head in order to collect your hair grafts. However, you do not need to shave or buzz cut the top of your head where the graft are being placed. Having your hairs present, help determine the direction which your hair grafts will be placed. In our practice we provide hair cuts for all our clients before there procedure.

Almost every patient will develop some swelling because it is a normal part of the healing process. It will almost always occur with procedures where the hairline, temples or frontal areas are transplanted. But if your procedure is only on the crown, you are not likely to get any visible swelling in the face. In any case, swelling will start in the forehead, and slowly move down the face with gravity. The eyebrow area will swell and then the lower eyelids can also follow. The use of prescription steroid tablets can really help the swelling to be as little as possible and to disappear within 4-5 days. Certain other medical conditions can lead to longer swelling and/or bruising, so always discuss with your surgeon.
